ONI BEARINGS

JTEKT made its full-scale entry into the bicycle bearing market by leveraging its technology for the world's first practical ceramic ball bearing in 1984 and by utilizing its knowledge cultivated for automobiles and industrial machinery.

Featuring significantly lower rolling torque than existing bearings for road bikes, ONI BEARINGS make pedaling lighter while maintaining wheel speed. With such high-level performance, ONI BEARINGS provide road bike users with greater speed and comfort.
Originating from the JTEKT group's vision of being “No. 1 & Only One”, i.e. “O” from "Only one", "N" from "No.1" and "I" from "1(one)". As the brand name of these ceramic ball bearings to signify their supreme performance and low torque while imparting a sense of Japanese brand appeal for riders in Europe.(which is one of the popular regions for road bike)

Highly rated for their supreme low-torque performance, these
bearings are used on the race bikes of MATRIX POWERTAG, one of
Japan's leading road bike racing teams.

Well-received by riders of this team, ONI BEARINGS have been
praised as being “incomparably lighter” and “especially nimble when
coming out of corners,” and are expected to make further
contributions to the team's performance this season.

Smoothest rolling resistance in the industry

ONI BEARINGS are recommended for long rides, as they provide about six times longer continuous wheel rotation than wheel manufacturer original bearings. They also provide smooth rolling resistance that ensures stability when coming out of corners and during riding.

Lowesttorque in the industry

ONI BEARINGS have achieved the lightest pedaling in the industry because they feature significantly lower torque than wheel manufacturer original bearings.

＜Test Conditions＞
  • Bearing: 6903 (17×30×7)
  • Load: 500 N (twice the anticipated load during riding)
  • Rotational speed: 600r/min-1 (equivalent to 80 km/h)

We conducted stand-alone endurance tests on ONI BEARINGS.
After 1250 Hours (approx.100,000 km) ride, ONI BEARINGS kept the same rotational performance without abrasion. It kept the same performance as the new one.
*We do not guarantee for the 100,000 km ride.

Even without maintenance, performance remained the same after one season of use by a professional rider

＜Test Conditions＞

  • Tested bearings: ONI BEARINGS used for one season in 2022 by five professional riders

We provided ONI BEARINGS to the MATRIX POWERTAG professional riding team, after which we disassembled the ONI BEARINGS after being used for one season to investigate their state of wear and other conditions. Despite a grueling race for one season, it kept the same performance as the new one.

Significant time reduction! Effective even on hill climbs!!

We conducted time comparisons by having professional riders perform road tests using both
the wheel manufacturer's original bearings and ONI BEARINGS.
Tests were performed using the same measurement conditions for both bearings.

Power was measured with power pedals, while other data was collected using a bike computer.
Time comparisons were performed twice—both with and without ONI BEARINGS.

  • Riding conditions: Sustained riding at 290 W (watts)

  • Measurement distance: 3.8 km × 4 times (with ONI BEARINGS × 2 times, wheel manufacturer original bearings × 2 times)
