Wheel-related products (chassis)
Refined Technologies and Products for Roads Worldwide
These are used in the wheel section connecting the wheels and the tires, and they support the heavy vehicle weight and rotate the tires smoothly while receiving external force. JTEKT's products decrease the vehicle weight while promoting the integration of a portion of the surrouding components, and the built-in sensors contribute to improved reliability and functionality.
Wheel bearings have evolved significantly by integrating with surrounding components, based on the needs of cars such as high speed, lower fuel consumption, and maintenance-free operation.
Furthermore, in response to the growing need for safety, various functions have been added.
1Hub units for passenger vehicles
Most passenger vehicles use hub units equipped with balls (i.e., ball hub units). Additionally, some heavy vehicles (SUVs and the like) use hub units that incorporate high-capacity tapered rollers (i.e., roller hub units).
2Wheel bearings for commercial vehicles
With heavy commercial vehicles, the predominant arrangement continues even today to be combining two tapered roller bearings. By improving the bearing materials and heat treatment, JTEKT is achieving greater reliability for wheel bearings. The DU 1st-generation hub unit, equipped with a tapered roller, is also used.
3Oil seals for wheels
At JTEKT, we set seals according to the required functions for each car component. By designing the optimal seal for each usage area based on logical analysis, and selecting/formulating the optimal materials, we are improving sealing performance and achieving low-friction torque.
